9/23/08 - Yesterday we started to have problems with our SSL encryption for our outgoing email service. Incoming mail is still functioning normally but outgoing email will produce an error. A temporary work-around is to use our web based email at http://mail.g5i.net/ in order to send email. Please bear with us while we work to fix the problem
Tower Outage
We have had service problems on our CW road tower north of Searcy. This issue has now been resolved.
DNS Server IP Address Change
06/15/08 - We now have two new DNS server IP addresses. We will be updating all clients who are served by DHCP, but those with static IP addresses will need to be updated manually. The new DNS servers are 12.198.208.138 for the primary, and 66.76.115.4 for the secondary.
Bandwidth Upgrade
06/09/08 - Last week we switched over to the new T3 line. We are now running with plenty of capacity to spare. We will be upgrading people to the new speeds on a tower by tower basis. The new speeds are listed here
Good News/Bad News
06/03/08 - This evening we swapped out hardware on our tower where we were having the problem. The new radio replaced four of the old radios. The good news is that the bad link is now working quite a lot better. The bad news is, one of the radio cards would not connect. This is a radio which links to our Antioch, Hidden Lakes and Fecher repeaters. We will be climbing again in the morning to replace the effected radio and to further improve our main link. We have also installed surge surpressors on this radio both on the ground and on the tower in order to increase our service reliability in the future. There will be a further outage in the morning as we replace the radio card which is effecting the above locations.
On another note, the fiber optic T3 Internet link is very close to being turned up. We are hoping to have it running before the end of the week, but are waiting on AT&T for a final turn-up date.
Service Outage
06/02/08 - On Friday there was an explosion in a datacenter in Texas where one of our servers is hosted. They finally restored power today. This effected email to our cdlworld.net domain and to a few other web sites and email domains. This server has since been restored. On Sunday, we lost power at our NOC just west of Beebe, twice. We shut down our local email and web servers in order to preserve battery power. We brought the servers back online this morning and were again running properly. This afternoon, in a completely unrelated incident, one of our main backbone links dropped offline. At the time I was in Little Rock and it took me some time to get back and get the service partially restored. We are now limping along with a weak radio link. Tomorrow we will be working on replacing hardware which may mean a few further short outages. Please bear with us while we work to resume full service.
New Installer
05/01/08 - We have taken on a full time installer in order to get caught up with the demand for our service, and to free me up to provide better telephone and email support. If you have been waiting to be hooked up, please call us now and we should be able to have your system installed very quickly.
Bandwidth Upgrade
03/03/2008
1. We have the go-ahead from AT&T for an upgrade from our T1 lines to a fiber optic T3 line. This will triple our available capacity, and enable us to upgrade our bandwidth quickly as needed. This is expected to be completed around the end of May.
2. We are now adding new customers once more.
3. Customer's connection speeds will be increased once the T3 installation is completed. There will be no additional charge for the increase in speed. We will be running some trials to determine how much bandwidth we can reliably offer.
